I’VE DISCOVERED IN LIFE THAT ITS ONE THING TO HAVE BUT ITS ANOTHER THING TO HOLD. FOR EXAMPLE, ITS ONE THING TO HAVE A DRIVERS LICENSE, IT’S ANOTHER THING TO HOLD ONTO IT; ITS ONE THING TO HAVE FRIENDS, BUT ANOTHER THING TO HOLD ONTO THEM; THAT ITS ONE THING TO HAVE MONEY, BUT AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THING TO HOLD ONTO IT. TALENT MAY OPEN A DOOR, BUT CHARACTER WILL KEEP YOU IN IT.
Having a dream is great, but holding it is the key to being able to say “Im Livin the dream” and I don’t mean the classic Aussie bbqing with a VB whilst watching the cricket kind of livin the dream. Or the frothing grommet who just got barreled or when you get that girls mobile number or when your mum does your washing for you. I mean when your dream to reach great heights in whatever it is you are talented and gifted to do becomes a reality.
Having a dream takes INSPIRATION but holding it requires DEDICATION. To really live our calling in life we need to understand that our comfort is not included. Your calling will always require you to keep moving OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE and often our calling comes at the price of our comfort.
In a world that is driven by CONVENIENCE comfort becomes a driving force in the decisions we make about life. Never realizing that every time we choose our comfort over our calling we are short changing our future.
Holding your dream looks like waking up at 4am every morning to get to the training ground before every one else does to do that extra bit of practice; holding the dream looks like reading that book whilst every body else is watching tv; holding the dream looks like saying no to that social event in order to get enough sleep for the event your speaking at the next day. Holding your dream requires sacrifice and commitment and unfortunately there is no short cut.
So I think its great that we have a dream, but I think the greatest thing is to hold it.
